A recent study have shown that patients who underwent body contouring surgery after gastric bypass have long term weight control than those who didn’t. Led by researchers at the University of Geneva in Switzerland, the study further explains the ways in which a Brownwood body contouring procedure could help in the significant improvement of one’s lifestyle after a weight loss surgery.
Better Long Term Weight Control with Body Contouring Surgery
The study compared two groups over a 7-year period — 98 patients who had body contouring surgeries after gastric bypass and 102 patients who only had a gastric bypass. After 2 years, the researchers found out that the first group lost an average of roughly 100 pounds and consequently, regained only a pound each year than the 4 pounds per year of patients who only had gastric bypass.
Ultimately, seven years after gastric bypass, the group who had body contouring surgeries done dropped to an average of nearly 176 pounds while those who did not undergo body contouring lost roughly 200 pounds on average.
