Juvederm Brownwood, TX
Facial aging affects all of us eventually. What we do about the signs of aging today – those laugh lines and crow’s feet – is much different than what our ancestors may have done. The use of dermal fillers like Juvéderm has made it much easier to breeze through decade after decade with better control over our appearance. We are pleased to perform Juvederm treatments in our Brownwood, TX laser center for patients who are interested in refreshing their face.
What Is Juvederm?
Juvéderm is one of many dermal fillers available today, and one of the most well-known. As a filler based on hyaluronic acid (HA), the products in the Juvéderm family are formulated to essentially replicate the body’s natural processes. Hyaluronic acid is an organic substance that we all have in our body naturally. It is crucial to the plumpness of the skin as well as the lubrication in our joints and eyes. With age, we don’t just lose collagen, we also lose a bit of the hyaluronic acid that provides necessary cushioning to various body parts.
When we use Juvéderm to correct the signs of aging, we are strategically inviting water molecules into areas in which lines and creases have formed, or where volume has diminished. When these molecules flood the area, particles of hyaluronic acid bind to them, trapping them in place for months at a time.
Where is Juvederm Injected?
There are several age-related cosmetic concerns that can be corrected with Juvéderm. Common areas of use include:
- Nasolabial folds between the nose and corners of the mouth
- Deflated lips or lines around the mouth
- Tear trough and upper cheek area can be treated to reduce the appearance of undereye bags
- Cheeks and temples, to reduce hollowness and deflation
- Worry lines
- Back of the hands
We carry (2) forms of Juvederm® products that are specially designed for different purposes and effects, from eliminating tiny lines to enhancing facial contours and sculpting lips to perfection.
- JUVEDERM ULTRA for wrinkle correction and lip enhancements.
- JUVEDERM ULTRA PLUS for shaping facial contours, such as cheeks and chin, correcting deep folds, and volume augmentation of the lips
Who is a Good Candidate?
Adults of all ages may be good candidates for Juvéderm. Pregnant women and individuals with certain health conditions may not be well-suited to this treatment. Schedule your consultation with us to discover if Juvéderm is the best treatment to achieve your desired outcome.
How Long Does Treatment Last?
The cross-linking with which Juvéderm is made substantially increases the amount of time hyaluronic acid stays in place. The viscosity of these products supports a lifespan of 8 to 12 months, or possibly longer. Every person’s body metabolizes fillers and other injectables at a unique rate. However, most Juvéderm patients are able to stay ahead of their aging game with routine annual touch-ups. Lip augmentation may need to be maintained at six-month intervals.
When Will I See Results?
One of the advantages of dermal filler treatment is that you get to see your new, refreshed face immediately. Slight swelling may occur, but fades shortly after treatment and does not obstruct the results you get to enjoy for the next several months.
How Much Does Juvederm Cost?
The cost of Juvéderm treatment varies from one person to another based on the amount of volume restoration that is needed. Our objective with each treatment is to achieve the most natural-looking results through the appropriate amount of product. The number of syringes that is needed for your needs can be discussed during your consultation in our comfortable office.
Is it Safe?
The hyaluronic acid that is in Juvéderm products is a polysaccharide, a carbohydrate compound that is naturally produced by the body. To maximize the potency of this acid, Juvéderm is manufactured with cross-linking, a binding process that creates a chain of HA molecules that can be introduced into tissue. The integrity of bound molecules is what makes results last as long as they do.
Does the Treatment Hurt?
Cosmetic injectable treatments are performed with a very small needle that could ordinarily cause nothing more than a pin-prick sensation upon administration. Juvéderm is somewhat of a special filler because it is formulated with Lidocaine. So, at the time of the very first injection, desensitizing medication is also introduced to tissues, making the process more comfortable. If you are concerned about your comfort level during treatment, let us know. We are happy to apply topical numbing cream to your skin prior to commencing with injections.
