What is truSculpt?
truSculpt is a non-surgical fat reduction treatment that uses monopolar radiofrequency energy to reduce fat. truSculpt has two options for body sculpting.
- truSculpt iD
truSculpt iD uses six versatile hands-free handpieces that are placed across the treatment areas. These eliminate fat in as little as a single 15-minute treatment.
- truSculpt 3D
truSculpt 3D changes body sculpting from stationary device placement by using a gliding handpiece that is moved across the treatment areas in a 60-minute session.
How does truSculpt work?
The goal of truSculpt is to reduce areas of stubborn fat that don’t respond to dietary changes and exercise. Unlike CoolSculpting, which uses cold to freeze fat cells, truSculpt uses monopolar radiofrequency energy to target fat cells in the treatment areas. Patients achieve an average of 24 percent fat reduction in as little as a single treatment.
The six handpieces with truSculpt iD or the single moveable handpiece with truSculpt 3D work the same way. They deliver proprietary, low frequency radiowaves down into the treatment area. The radiofrequency energy penetrates the epidermis and the dermis and enters the fat layer. There the energy converts to heat and damages fat cells, roughly one quarter of the cells in the area. The fat cell walls are damaged and the cells cannot recover. Over the next 12 weeks, the body removes these dead fat cells through the natural process of eliminating waste products.
The result is a slimmer contour in the treatment area thanks to 24 percent fat reduction.
