Tattoos are for Fantasy Island
- Posted on: Oct 15 2017
OK, who’s old enough to remember Tattoo? No, not the Grim Reaper who now owns the acreage from your shoulder down your triceps. The character from the TV series Fantasy Island.
Anyone, anyone, Bueller?
Most likely if you have large portions of your body covered with tattoos you’re not old enough to have been around for that show. So, let’s talk about your ink instead.
Sometimes it’s necessary to admit things have changed in your world. Maybe you have a new job and the tattoo is running up the side of your neck isn’t cool with the corporate culture. Maybe there was an old girlfriend, and she made her way onto your pectoral muscle, at least in ink. Your current girlfriend isn’t a fan. Maybe you’re just older, and you’re starting to see the signs of the skin laxity that is coming and is destined to remake your tattoo into a wholly different thing.
Regardless of your reasons, there’s no longer need to live with tattoos you no longer want. At Creative Image Laser Solutions, we are experts at using our laser resources to get rid of your unwanted tattoo.
Zapping the ink
We have a variety of lasers we can use for tattoo removal, the Erbium, Medlite, and Ruby lasers. The choice depends on both your skin type and the colors in your tattoo. Most tattoos require more than one laser unless the color scheme is very simple.
When using the laser on your tattoo, we deliver very short intense pulses of light onto the skin with the tattoo. This light energy passes through the top layers of skin and is absorbed by the pigment in the tattoo. This energy causes the tattoo ink to fragment into smaller particles, which are then removed by the body’s immune system.
You may be reading and think, “That sounds as if it would blow up my skin!” Ah, but no, grasshopper. The laser is calibrated to precisely match the color of the tattoo we are working on. So, only the skin with the tattoo attracts the energy, and the surrounding tissue is unharmed.
Not just one treatment
Tattoos, unless they are just a single color, usually require multiple appointments with the Creative Image Laser team to fully remove. The question comes down to the number of colors in the tattoo. Full removal usually needs at least six treatments. The treatments need to be spaced out about one month.
