Stop the Sweat this Summer

Things can get a little toasty during a summer in Brownwood, and that’s a problem if you’re one of the estimated four million Americans who suffer from severe, excessive sweating. The condition, known as hyperhidrosis, can keep a person from engaging in many social situations and it can be emotionally difficult. 

Treatments for hyperhidrosis have traditionally been prescription antiperspirants or invasive surgical procedures. More recently, Botox injections have been used. Success of these various treatments has been spotty, however. 

At Creative Image Laser Solutions, we have a better solution — Precision TX™ Laser Sweat Reduction. 

What is laser sweat reduction? 

Precision TX™ utilizes a unique, focused delivery of laser energy to target and ablate many of the sweat glands within the underarm area. For these treatments, we use the Sidelaze800™ side-firing laser by Cynosure, the makers of SmartLipo™ and Cellulaze™. The design of the laser allows for energy and heat to be directed upward toward the under surface of the skin, directly at the sweat glands (and hair follicles). 

How is Precision TX used in these treatments? 

In these treatments for hyperhidrosis, we apply local anesthetic to the underarm area. That keeps you comfortable during the treatment. The Precision TX™ delivers its energy through a laser fiber. We make a very tiny incision to insert the Precision TX fiber using a cannula. Once inserted, the Sidelaze800™ has the advantage of being a side-firing laser. This allows the laser energy to be directed upwards and sideways, rather than downward. This is important here, as the sweat glands are located just beneath the surface of the skin. 

When the laser energy is delivered, it instantly converts to heat energy. This heat destroys the targeted sweat glands. This only eliminates the patient’s excessive sweat producing capabilities, bringing their perspiration down to a normal level that can then be managed with over-the-counter antiperspirants. 

What kind of results can I expect with Precision TX treatment? 

Six months after a single Precision TX™ treatment, research has shown up to a 96 percent sweat reduction in the axilla, the underarm area. These are typically single treatments because the laser energy destroys the targeted sweat glands. They cannot produce perspiration again.
