Chronic Fatigue Doesn’t Need to Be Chronic
- Posted on: Sep 15 2016
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a disorder where the patient feels enduring fatigue, not the kind that passes with a cup of coffee or a walk around the block. CFS is chronic and it gets in the way of the sufferer’s daily activities. At Creative Image Laser Solutions, we test for and treat CFS with often very gratifying results.
What is CFS?
Chronic fatigue syndrome isn’t a short-term thing. Typical symptoms associated with CFS last for six months or more. Symptoms include muscle pain, memory problems, headaches, joint pain, insomnia, sore throat, and tender lymph nodes.
The causes of CFS are not fully understood. No specific virus has been identified as the cause of the disorder, although some researchers suspect it could be linked to the Epstein-Barr virus or human herpes virus-6.
Who gets CFS?
CFS is the most common in women in their 40s and 50s, although anyone can acquire it.
Traditional medicine seeks to temper the symptoms
The position of the medical community is that there is no cure for CFS, so the goal is to lessen the impact of its symptoms. For instance, certain medicines may be prescribed to alleviate the pain or to address sleep issues. But really all that is happening is the symptoms are being masked.
Our approach is different
At Creative Image Laser Solutions, we look at CFS as a treatable condition. We start with education. There is a correlation between CFS and reduced production of the hormones of the adrenal glands, as well as reduced cortisol production. We’ve found that CFS patients have significantly lower levels of important adrenal hormones in both their blood and urine. We think this isn’t due to the adrenal glands themselves, but due to the interactions between the neuroendocrine system and the immune system.
Twofold treatment
At Creative Image we treat CFS by first testing the patient’s adrenal glands through a complete saliva and blood spot panel. This confirms the insufficiency of adrenal hormone levels. We then provide low doses of bio-identical (natural) adrenal hormone, often with drastic improvements in patient energy levels. We also use actual (therapeutic) cortisol, which is molecule to molecule identical to that of the human body, again with great results.
