Add Laser Energy to Liposuction at Creative Image Laser

Liposuction, when originally introduced in the 1980s in the U.S., was a pretty violent procedure. The cannula, which was much larger than those needed today, was moved quite violently under the skin to break loose the fat to be suctioned out. That movement caused a good deal of bruising and tissue trauma, plus patients had to be under general anesthesia during the procedure.

Since then liposuction has come a long way and is far less invasive. At Creative Image Laser Solutions we use aesthetic lasers in liposuction, a procedure called laser-assisted lipolysis. By adding laser energy to the procedure, liposuction is more effective, less invasive, with minimal recovery time.

How does laser-assisted liposuction work?

In the procedure, we use a special cannula that has a fiber optic cable attached to it. Once inserted into the target area the light energy from the laser heats and emulsifies the fat. The laser energy actually breaks down the walls of the fat cells and liquefies the fat, which is then removed with the traditional/mechanical liposuction technique. Because the fat is liquefied, it requires a much smaller cannula than traditional liposuction.

Our laser in this procedure allows us to set the energy parameters so that they do not harm other surrounding tissues or blood vessels, only targeting the fat cells. This also enables us to use liposuction in areas that formerly were not an option.

Add skin tightening

Because the laser energy is delivered under the skin, there is another benefit — skin tightening. This is how other laser skin tightening procedures work, by triggering a wound response under the skin and getting the body to create new collagen and elastin as a response. At Creative Image Laser, our laser-assisted lipolysis triggers the same response. Skin tightening continues for 9-12 months following your procedure.

Incisions are very small, generally less than a quarter of an inch, so there isn’t any real scarring.

Laser-assisted lipolysis can be used to remove fat from under the chin, cheeks, jowls, neck, upper arms, breasts, chest, abdomen, buttocks, hips, inner and outer thighs, knees, calves, and ankles.
