Sclerotherapy vs. Laser Vein Treatments: What’s Right for You?
- Posted on: Nov 15 2025

Our team brings years of experience in vein treatment and aesthetic medicine, and we take the time to evaluate each patient carefully. Here’s a look at how these two approaches work — and how to decide which one may be the right fit for you.
How Sclerotherapy Works
Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves injecting a special solution directly into the affected vein. The solution causes the vein walls to collapse and seal shut, allowing the body to gradually absorb the treated vein. Over time, the appearance of the vein fades, and blood naturally reroutes to healthier nearby vessels.
Sclerotherapy is often recommended for small to medium-sized spider veins and reticular veins, particularly on the legs. The treatment is quick, with little to no downtime, and multiple veins can often be treated in one session.
How Laser Vein Treatment Works
Laser treatments use pulses of light energy to target and heat the blood inside unwanted veins. This heat causes the vein to close off without the need for needles or injections. Like sclerotherapy, the treated vein is absorbed by the body over time.
Laser therapy is especially helpful for very small veins or facial spider veins that may be too small or too delicate for injections. It’s a popular choice for people who prefer a completely non-invasive option.
Which Treatment Is Right for You?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. The best treatment depends on factors such as:
- The location, size, and color of your veins
- Your skin tone and type
- Your medical history and comfort with needles or heat-based treatments
- Whether you’ve had prior treatment or recurrence
At Creative Image Laser Solutions, we offer both sclerotherapy and laser options because we understand that personalized care leads to better outcomes. During your consultation, we’ll perform a detailed evaluation and explain the benefits of each approach so you can make an informed decision.
