IPL Photofacials

If you’re tired of those brown age spots and areas of hyperpigmentation, you need to get intense with it — Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) from Creative Image Laser Solutions. IPL improves sun-damaged skin, removes age spots, and helps with various pigmentation problems such as rosacea.
What is Intense Pulsed Light?
The name sounds kind of funny, Intense Pulsed Light. After all, isn’t a laser the ultimate intensity of light? While some people think of IPL as a laser, it isn’t. A laser directs a single wavelength of light energy at the target. For instance, the laser wavelength can be set to match the color of a spider vein. The blood in the spider vein then absorbs the light energy, which converts to heat and damages the vein. IPL delivers a wider wavelength of light to the target area, which allows it to be used to treat pigmentation problems beyond just a single color.
How it works
The goal of IPL treatments is for the age spots, acne, and solar lentigos to absorb the light energy. This energy damages the cells in the unwanted lesions, while it leaves the healthy surrounding tissue without the same amount of melanin unharmed. Once the IPL session is complete, the age spots will darken initially and then peel off. A series of treatments will permanently destroy the lesions. Of course, new age spots can form with additional sun exposure, but your treatment removes your current spots.
What can IPL be used to correct?
At Creative Image Laser, we’ve found that our IPL systems work very well on these skin problems:
- Age spots
- Sun damaged skin
- Rosacea
- Hypertrophic scarring
- Acne
- Hyperpigmentation
How many treatments?
We recommend a series of 3-5 treatments, spaced from 3-4 weeks apart. Acne treatments require from 6-8 treatments, but are given twice weekly. Each IPL session only takes 20 to 30 minutes.
