Every tattoo has a story behind it, although some of those stories are hard to remember due to the varying hour of the night or the extent of the party. Unfortunately, the tattoo keeps on keeping on, even when your life has changed.
The name of that love of your life? Not so welcome now by your husband or wife.
That image of a dragon across your shoulder and down your arm? Seemed cool at the time, but not so appreciated by your new employer.
It used to be that there were only three ways to get rid of a tattoo: surgery to remove the skin, acid bleaching, and dermabrasion (basically sandblasting your skin).
But now, lasers can effectively remove tattoos. Creative Image Laser Solutions uses the MedLite Laser whose four different wavelengths can target a wide spectrum of colors, even green, red, and sky blue.
The laser removes the tattoo by releasing energy that hits the tattoo colors. The individual colors vibrate and are shattered into small micro-particles that can then be easily removed. The body gradually absorbs the color, fading the tattoo. This doesn’t work on white or cosmetic ink.
Now many treatments are necessary?
Removing a tattoo takes from five to 15 treatments to get all the color and allow the skin to return to its natural color. If your tattoo is more elaborate, with multiple colors or resistant colors, you will need more treatments than a simple one-color tattoo would require.
Does it hurt?
The procedure involves a little discomfort, but not much. We apply an anesthetic cream to the location prior to beginning the laser treatment. After each treatment, you will have three to four days of sensitivity at the site. You’ll also need to apply an over-the-counter antibiotic to the site and keep it covered.
